Andy Caldwell was born on an Air Force Base in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1958 and a decade later his family moved to Lompoc. He graduated from Lompoc High School, then San Diego State, and began his career in agriculture, working his way through college as a seasonal laborer at Sinton and Brown, eventually moving into a management role at another division of the Union Sugar company.
When Caldwell left the company in 1991, he began his advocacy career as founder of the Coalition of Labor, Agriculture, and Business. Better known as COLAB, the group has 1,000 members in Santa Barbara County, Caldwell said, and it has sprouted neighbor groups of the same name in Imperial, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties.
His conservative daily radio show runs on AM 1440 in Santa Maria, part of his 25-year career in local radio. He wrote editorials for the Santa Maria Times for 17 years and now publishes three times a week in the Santa Barbara News Press.
Regarding his opponent, Salud Carbajal, Caldwell states: "He's driving voters away from himself," Caldwell said. "His party wants Medicare for all. Medicare is going bankrupt. Social Security is going bankrupt. We have to save what we have for seniors now before we expand coverage to everyone in the country."

It is an honor to represent the Central Coast in the Assembly. We are fortunate to live in this amazing place. It's where I grew up, and where my wife and I decided to raise our family.
Together, we have the ability to make real changes in our state. Despite today’s contentious political climate, I have stayed true to my pledge to put politics aside to work for common-sense policies. I have had the privilege of working with leaders on both sides of the aisle to improve public safety, grow our economy, and promote a safe and healthy environment.

JORDAN CUNNINGHAM - State Assembly, District 35
Bob attended Vanguard University and earned his degree with honors in Business Administration. In college, Bob founded a real estate management company in Southern California. After graduation, Bob returned to Santa Maria and taught high school, middle school, and special education programs. In 2003, Bob was recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Santa Maria Sun.
Bob later became Department Head of the Business Department at Pioneer Valley High School and the Chair of the District’s Technology Committee. Following his time in teaching, Bob re-focused his attention to local government. In 2010, he formed and led a committee to defeat a countywide sales tax initiative, Measure S. Bob later served as a key advisor to Peter Adam in his run for Fourth District Supervisor, leading to victory over the incumbent of 14 years.
Bob has served as Supervisor Peter Adam’s District Chief for the past six years. As District Chief, Bob works on constituent services, advises Supervisor Adam on important policy and budget decisions, and has managed multiple supervisory offices and staff.
Projects managed by Bob routinely come in under budget, saving taxpayers tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Specific projects include: Measure M, a maintenance initiative; independent redistricting; Lompoc Riverbed cleanup and triage center; and unified fire dispatch center development. Bob also represents our community on the Vandenberg Air Force Base Community Advisory Board, the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council and the Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety.
Bob’s personal and professional life experience and his proven commitment to serving the community will guide him as he works to make Santa Barbara County a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
