Adopt A Precinct Program

One of the primary objectives of our organization is to elect Republicans to office. To that end every election cycle we talk about how we are going to have a grass roots campaign. However, Republicans in Santa Barbara County have in the past had no real organization to get a grass roots campaign off the ground.

We complain over and over again that we are not getting our message out. The best way to get our message out is person to person, from the folks next door or your neighbor down the street. That is why we're launching the Adopt a Precinct Program.

The cornerstone of this program is the Precinct Captain. The three basic objectives for the Precinct Captain are to

(1) ensure that all Republicans go to the polls and vote,
(2) encourage and assist anyone in their precinct who wants to register to vote as a Republican, and
(3) represent the entire Republican party - not just one candidate or one ideology.

Currently the Santa Barbara County Republican Party Committee is working to create a permanent Precinct Organization. The Party Committee will provide a list of voters and precinct maps, but we need volunteers to take on the responsibilities of Precinct Captain.

The following is an outline of the basic duties for a Precinct Captain:

A) Call on new residents in the precinct. Provide information about voter registration.

PRIOR TO ELECTION DAY:
B) contact households in the precinct with registered Republicans and encourage them to go vote on election day;

C) ask Republicans if they need absentee ballots or help getting to the polls;

D) ask Republicans how they feel about the party and how it could improve its appeal to them;

E) ask Republicans if they know anyone who may be serious about changing to Republican registration and contact them;

F) distribute lists of the Republican candidates to each Republican household.
ON ELECTION DAY:
G) Check the list at the polls to find out which Republicans have voted by 2 PM. Contact those who haven't. Then help them get to the polls if they need it.

Our goal is to have a Precinct Captain in each precinct of Santa Barbara County. With your help we can make the Adopt-A-Precinct Program a success. We will be able to measure our success by the number of Republican office holders we have in this County.
