Statement of Republican Beliefs

Republicans believe in freedom, that free people are those who take personal responsibility for their affairs and are therefore capable and productive enough to provide for themselves and family minus government interference. Freedom Is The Exercise Of Personal Responsibility! The Democrat party is mistrustful of peoples’ ability to manage their own affairs and think they need “personal entitlements” (less freedom) in the form of elitist (government) interference in their personal affairs for them to live satisfactory lives. Republicans think personal responsibility offers opportunities to lead interesting, useful and productive lives while government interference mandates controls from above, a dearth of opportunities and more drab unhappy wasted lives.

Republican beliefs, when applied, produce the following positive results:

a) Government restricts itself to activities necessary to preserve freedom that cannot be done by individuals, such as Defense, Diplomacy, Law Enforcement and the like. Government severely limits its involvement in those matters that individuals naturally do for themselves, such as working to feed, clothe, house and enjoy themselves.

b) Government avoids mandates, especially unfunded mandates, forcing people to do its bidding to qualify for handouts which foster dependency not freedom.

c) Government promotes innovation, personal responsibility, productivity, trade and commerce, and avoids unnecessary rules costly to develop and administer.

d) Government tries to support those truly unable to take care of themselves but provides only conditional support for those unwilling to but capable of supporting themselves. The condition is that such people learn to become self supporting.

e) Opportunities lead to better and more useful lives for all. Handouts are restrictive, only perpetuate undesirable conditions but don’t end them as hoped for.

Republicans, like most of us, believe people are mostly sensible about their lives while Democrat leadership thinks people generally need government guidance in their personal affairs. Republicans trust and respect people; The Democrat party doesn’t!

Application of the above beliefs into the fabric of government will result in:

a) Lower taxes and fewer rules because government will be simpler and focused more on what it is supposed to do and not on things beyond its competence.

b) Better and more efficient overall governance since attention would be more concentrated on the actual problems that government is supposed to address.

c) A more productive and efficient economy because government would be smaller and freer allowing more people to be engaged in producing what consumers want and less engaged in unproductive government control of our daily lives.

d) More enjoyable, innovative, interesting, prosperous and useful lives for all.

Let us be thankful we Americans have the opportunity to live useful, productive and enjoyable (free) lives if we so choose. The Republican party offers the best hope for such an outcome because our beliefs as stated above reflect this, our heritage.
